God at Work Through the LWML Salad Supper

2025 LWML SALAD SUPPER

On August 7, the women of Messiah Lutheran Church, joined by friends from the wider community, gathered for one of the most anticipated events of the year—the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) Salad Supper. This annual tradition is more than just a table filled with delicious salads and warm fellowship—it’s a night dedicated to raising mission awareness and witnessing God’s work in action.

$2,542 Donated

This year, more than 150 women came together, bringing homemade salads to share and hearts open to learning how God is moving in the world through missions. The evening’s highlight was guest speaker Brooke Carlson, Executive Director of Disrupting Traffik. Brooke shared eye-opening insights about the reality of human trafficking—not just in distant countries, but here in Lincoln, across the United States, and around the globe. She offered practical steps for recognizing danger and protecting our children and grandchildren from this growing threat.

The impact of the evening reached far beyond words. Attendees donated blankets and hygiene products for trafficking survivors, along with a generous offering of $2,542 to support Disrupting Traffik. These tangible gifts, paired with prayer and awareness, will bring hope and comfort to those who need it most.

For the LWML, the evening was a living example of how “mites” work in mission. Small, faithful offerings collected over time—known as “mites”—can make a huge difference when placed in God’s hands. The Salad Supper was not only an opportunity to learn and serve but also a reminder that God uses even the smallest gifts to accomplish His big plans.

Through every stage—from planning to the final prayer—God’s presence was evident. The event strengthened bonds among women, deepened understanding of missions, and renewed a commitment to being the hands and feet of Jesus in the world.
