“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” — 1 Corinthians 15:58
From June 26–30, seven women from Messiah—Jan Kollars, Barb Ollenburg, Kay Marshall, Liz Patton, Nyla Jeppeson, Kathy Carter, and Lois Cole—joined thousands of Lutheran women from across the country at the National LWML Convention in Omaha, Nebraska. This powerful gathering took place at the CHI Convention Center and carried the theme: “Growing in God’s Grace.”
Over the course of four spirit-filled days, participants were encouraged and equipped through worship, prayer, keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and mission-focused fellowship. The convention highlighted not only the strength of faith-filled women gathering together but also the incredible impact they can have when united in purpose.

33 Mission Projects Funded

Local Mission, Global Impact
Three local mission partners from Lincoln—Mercy Meals, Orphan Grain Train, and Common Threads—were spotlighted during the convention, offering participants an up-close look at how God is working through ministries right here in Nebraska. It was a beautiful reminder that serving others in Christ’s name can start in our own communities and ripple out into the world.
Through the faithful giving of mites—those small offerings collected regularly in LWML’s iconic purple mite boxes—33 mission projects will now be funded over the next two years, both domestically and internationally. From church planting to seminary scholarships, clean water projects to outreach in underserved communities, these mission grants represent real hope, real help, and real lives changed through the love of Christ.
