Messiah is all about families and relationships. God’s presence in our lives is meant to be shared. Sometimes busyness gets in the way and volunteering helps set aside time to be actively present in God’s family.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10 NIV
A few of our volunteers share why they serve:
Keith Thomson (Usher)
I feel gratified when I help someone with a problem. Maybe they don’t know how to approach it, they don’t have the resources or are overwhelmed. Regardless, the fellowship I share with them and the people working together to help is what I enjoy most.
Lloyd Kettlehake (Usher)
I enjoy helping and greeting people who come to worship. I like to put a smile on their face and make them feel welcome. I connect with other volunteers at church. It has been a blessing to me.
Jan Kollars (Volunteer):
I volunteer to greet on Sundays and like seeing people I haven’t seen in a long time. I also sew for Common Threads. It’s nice to be with other ladies in the studio or sew at home for this ministry.
Rhonda Bors (Volunteer)
Serving with the Café Crew has been very rewarding. It has given me the opportunity to make new friends while staying connected with my “golden” friends. I love the warm atmosphere the café creates. It’s inviting for people to engage in conversation and laughter. I feel God has led me in this direction because of my outgoing personality and love for donuts!
Ron Suing (Usher)
I am an usher in church and have designed and built the offering boxes and some tables in the café and school. I enjoyed the time spent creating them for our church and school.
Mary Searcy (Usher)
Servanthood… it’s what I learned growing up. Not about the servant, but about the people being served. I’m full of joy to meet and greet. To have a helping hand for whom that needs it. Being thoughtful, gentle, caring, and yes, sometimes silly! Jesus showed me His servanthood. An example for me to follow.
JoAnn Wallman (Volunteer)
Volunteering at Messiah is my way of staying connected. I enjoy working at the Welcome Center, transporting and sharing needed items for Home in a Box, and helping in the school. My story is not specific, but rather a collage of smiles from students who just needed some personal time away from the classroom to better understand a concept.
At Messiah, each member contributes uniquely to our collective mission; showing that through every act of giving, we strengthen our bonds, uplift one another, and fulfill our shared purpose.
