What to Expect on a Sunday Morning

We are one big family at Messiah!

Messiah is a church that stays true to God’s unchanging Word, in a setting that is genuine and real. Come as you are to worship, and you’ll fit right in. You’ll see some men wearing jackets and ladies in dresses, while others are in casual tops with jeans or shorts. Don’t be surprised to find people hanging around for quite a while before and after our services, as we love to laugh, smile and catch up on life’s happenings on Sunday mornings.

FORWARD IN FAITH

In 2020, Messiah will open its largest ever expansion!
We are excited to share what God is doing at Messiah with you.

Ministry Stories

A Days for Girls Story

I (Kathy Carter) was asked to give a presentation about Days for Girls feminine hygiene kits in January at the Good Neighbor Center, to a group of 13 Arabic women after their English language class.

I was invited back to do a service project with these same women, and we cut pads and pinned liners to flannel.

One older lady, who was low income and had recently had carpal tunnel surgery, said she could not cut or pin but gave me $50 to use to purchase fabric and underwear for the kits.

I was brought to tears and told her through the interpreter, Zainab, that I could not accept this gift.

She told me, “You must. Do you not remember in the Bible the story of the widow’s offering in Luke 21:1-3? The poor widow gave two small copper coins and gave from her heart, whereas the other people gave of their wealth.”

Reaching out to the youngest in the Messiah family

Distance learning is taking place for our school children, but Mrs. Thimijan decided to also reach out to our preschool families.  Here’s a facebook post from one the parents of our preschoolers.
HUGE shoutout to Messiah – Lincoln, NE! Our son, like almost all kids now, can’t go to school but today school came to him. Messiah Lutheran drove to our house today to drop off some activities for our kids (with no contact of course!) while they’re at home. Such a sweet, simple gesture and a sign of how much teachers care about their students. So glad to be a part of the Messiah Lutheran Family! ❤️❤️❤️

Training Them up in the Way they Should Go

This year the Lutheran Schools of Lincoln hosted the First Annual Spelling Bee for students in 2nd and 3rd grades.  As these children stood and confidently spelled words into a microphone in front of an audience, it was apparent how much they have grown in their time at Messiah.  We are so blessed to have loving and encouraging teachers who have pointed them to Jesus time and time again to help them overcome their anxieties and give them the confidence they need to try new things!  It was a moment for us to praise God for His work in these young lives!
