What to Expect on a Sunday Morning

We are one big family at Messiah!

Messiah is a church that stays true to God’s unchanging Word, in a setting that is genuine and real. Come as you are to worship, and you’ll fit right in. You’ll see some men wearing jackets and ladies in dresses, while others are in casual tops with jeans or shorts. Don’t be surprised to find people hanging around for quite a while before and after our services, as we love to laugh, smile and catch up on life’s happenings on Sunday mornings.

FORWARD IN FAITH

In 2020, Messiah will open its largest ever expansion!
We are excited to share what God is doing at Messiah with you.

Ministry Stories

Second Grader Henry Leads Chapel at Home

From Wendy Borcherding, Second Grade Teacher:
We were scheduled to have our second grade class lead the chapel service in April, but because of distance learning we could not do that.

When Henry, one of our second graders, realized what day it was, and that we weren’t able to lead the chapel service as planned, he was really disappointed.

He decided he was going to write his own chapel service for his family! He spent the whole day writing Bible verses on notecards and planning what Bible story he would read.

Instead of their family movie night, Henry had a family chapel night. He shared the Bible verses he wrote with his family. He read the Bible story, “Jesus Rides into Jerusalem” and also read “The Ten Commandments”.

What a special way to have chapel!

Sewing Scrub Hats for Medical Workers

From Kendra Vance:
A friend of mine, who is a nurse at Bryan, contacted me to see if our church sewing group could make scrub hats, as all medical supplies were being carefully rationed.

Since the Mustard Seed sewers were not meeting during virus times*, I told her I could make hats if she had a pattern they wanted used. She printed off several patterns and delivered them to our mailbox.

After providing several sample hats from the patterns, Ann requested 70 more scrub hats made from quilters cotton. I spent a week sewing (wonderfully decreasing my fabrics-on-hand), and delivered an interesting combination of fabrics and colors of Bryan headgear.

*Sewers are currently working from home on projects for Days for Girls as well as sewing hundreds of masks.

SonShine Choir Brings Sunshine to Seniors

From Trudi Lappe:
The SonShine Choir was scheduled to sing at Windcrest Assisted Living but we had to cancel due to COVID-19.

The activity director asked if we would make cards for the 70 residents instead. We did, and dropped them off on Easter!

The activity director said the residents enjoyed the cards very much. The Berrys also made cards to share with their Great Grandma and her care center.

This was a great way to share some of the light of Jesus with others!
